Kinex. It's marvellous for models, making 'behind-the-fridge' retrieval tools, poking devices and hoover-killers. After extensive research, we found that Kinex is especially good for getting kids to build themselves into cages.

Shame it's not made of solid steel, really, and wouldn't contain a wussy hamster, but you can't have everything.
